With a unique understanding of on-set technologies and their relationships in post-production has allowed him to act as a guide in the evolving relationship between acquisition, edit, and delivery. Gary is one of the co-authors and tech editor for the original version of the Data Handling Procedures and Best Practices guide used by IATSE Local 600 (Cinematographer’s Guild).
Gary has been a speaker on cinematography and the related technologies at events around the world, and has presented on various topics at the National Association of Broadcasters Las Vegas convention continuously since 1999, as well as presenting on a diverse array of subjects at NAB Shanghai, IBC Show, Interbee and Broadcast India. Meet Frederick Van Johnson, a photography industry veteran with a dynamic career as a combat photojournalist, podcast founder and editor-in-chief, digital media and business professional. Frederick served two tours (8 years) in the United States Air Force, earning a prestigious Commendation and Achievement medals for his work. He later attended the University of California at Santa Barbara, studying Business and Visual Communication. After that, he worked at Yahoo!, Apple, and Adobe before becoming the Chairman of the Board at Brooks Institute of Photography and a strategy and marketing advisor for photography start-ups in Silicon Valley. In 2022, he sold TWiP to SmugMug and joined the company as a full-time Senior Manager for New Media and Editor-in-Chief for TWiP.

Luisa Winters is an Adobe Premiere Master Instructor, an Adobe Certified Instructor, and an Apple Certified Trainer. She is an accomplished videographer, editor, 3D animator, and graphics designer. Her compositions have been seen on broadcast TV as well as in private video productions. She has created and edited scores of video and web projects for dozens of corporate, government, and educational, commercial, and private clients. An accomplished nonlinear editor and instructor, Luisa has conducted training sessions and master classes for Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Flash, Dreamweaver, Captivate, and Encore DVD.

Jeff Foster is an accomplished professional with 30+ years of experience in media production. Based in Northern California, he excels as an award-winning producer, published author, videographer/photographer, animator/editor, trainer, and aerial cinematographer. Jeff’s expertise spans traditional and digital images, video production, illustration, animation, motion graphics, and special effects. He is currently finalizing VFX work for an upcoming feature film. As a respected writer for ProVideo Coalition, he focuses on reviewing video and photo gear, exploring new technologies, and AI tools for imaging and content creation. Marcelo holds a deep passion for technology because of its potential to democratize industries that were once exclusive only to those with significant financial resources. He began to pursue this passion in the late 90s, starting as a web developer. Over time, Marcelo honed his skills and used them to create websites and online communities around his interests.

At NVIDIA, Ashlee specializes in emerging content creation workflows to help inform the Media & Entertainment Product Management process. Ashlee builds pipelines for content generation, demonstrates the latest advances in 3D Animation and VFX, where she trained in Technical Direction, Lighting, Shading, and Rendering. Ashlee has built multiple procedural generators – like The Scale Generator, the Knit Generator, and the brick generator (available on Substance Share) to help artists create unique materials for their 3D scenes. Most recently, Ashlee has taken an active role in generative AI using diffusion models to help guide the future of AI-assisted content creation.
A filmmaker and creator with a background in engineering and cinema tech. Formally an executive for a large equipment manufacturer, Snehal is stepping back into the film world with creative storytelling projects that exploit the latest technologies. He is involved at a leadership level with SMPTE, helping to create metadata standards for VFX and Virtual Production workflows. Snehal shares his filmmaking knowledge openly and speaks at various events and film festivals.
Jason Schugardt is a Solutions Architect for NVIDIA helping customers connect to the best solutions at NVIDIA. David’s career spans over 25 years in visual arts and media production.
David started his professional journey in the early 1990’s as a documentary filmmaker working on various projects in and around the high performance military aircraft industry. The experience exposed him to the full gamut of the production workflow from cameras to post production.
David saw new and exciting prospects to visual storytelling through the emerging
computer aided production technologies in the mid 1990’s. He worked on industry
leading productions utilizing advanced composting and green screen technology in both broadcast and motion picture pre-visualization while working for Discreet Logic, later Autodesk Media & Entertainment.
In the early 2000’s David was the project lead on the implementation of real-time
graphics technology at CNBC and later NBCU, where in 2008 the use of fully immersive virtual set production was highlighted by NBC News coverage of the Presidential
David established his own technology and production company in 2010 and worked to provide the real time visual effect technologies he had help pioneer at the studio and network levels to a broader audience of users. Aaron Edell is a technology executive and startup founder working in the media and entertainment space for 20 years. After producing content for PBS, Aaron joined a startup in NY called SAMMA Systems where he went on to help large archives migrate videotape all around the world. After SAMMA was acquired by Front Porch Digital and then Oracle, Edell went on to help start GrayMeta to modernize metadata extraction for large archives. In 2017 Edell founded Machine Box, an AI company making developer tools, which was quickly acquired by Veritone 9 months later. After Veritone Aaron went on to AWS where he built a $500M business on helping customers optimize their cloud spend. In 2023, Edell was appointed CEO of GrayMeta where he continued to drive AI innovation for media archives globally.
